Brownsville, Story Ridge Trail, May 19th, 9:30 - 11:30
The trail that we planned for May 19th is severely damaged by the storms in Stowe last July. So instead we are doing the hike below.
Join us Monday, May 19thth at 9:30 for another group hike. This is a hike in Brownsville, Stowe. From Moss Glen Falls parking lot (you can GPS this) go 1.15 miles up the hill on Brownsville Rd. to a kiosk on the left hand side of the road. (You will pass a horse farm on the left, keep going straight onto a smaller rougher dirt road and you'll soon see the kiosk and a small parking area). We will walk 1 easy mile on a dirt road to a beautiful field overlooking the Worcerster range. Folks who want to can turn around at that point and have a round trip of 2 miles. Those who want to continue will head up a logging road that will connect to the Story Ridge trail. This is a single track trail that was developed by the Stowe Land Trust. The trail wanders through beautiful woods until we come out higher on the Brownsville Rd. and we will then walk back on the road to our cars. The single track trail is fairly easy but if you have any balance issue you may want to bring poles. This is approximately 3.5 miles with 460 ft ascent.
Please carpool there is very limited parking.
Dogs are welcome but they need to be on a leash when we walk by the horse barn.
