What's Your Story? Write It! Mondays, 1/27, 2/3, 2/10, 2/17,  10-am - noon at the Lanpher Library

 

Have you wanted to explore writing and find the stories that have shaped your life? Then, this is the class for you! Each week Nate will give you a writing prompt that will get you going, along with examples of writing that may inspire your own work. You'll share your work with your classmates and support each other through the writing process. Then, you can share an excerpt of your work with the entire "What's Your Store?" group at the closing session.

 

Week 1: Objects that tell stories: Choose an object that has meaning to you and describe it and any story attached to it.

 

Week 2: People: character and dialogue. What do people say and what does that say about them? Try telling a story only through dialogue.

 

Week 3: Telling a story using But and Because. Sometimes when we tell stories it can seem like "one dang thing after another." But what storeis often reveal is the way that one thing causes another and obstacles that get in the way. Take one story and tell it using But and Because.

 

Week 4: Sharing and revision.
