Learn about the funny side of nature - and especially birds - and discover why comics and science are natural allies. Rosemary Mosco, a cartoonist, naturalist, and kids' book author, will explain her unique blend of art and science, and share some of the funny creatures she's encountered along the way.
About Rosemary: Rosemary Mosco blends science, humor, and heart to create books and comics about birds and other wildlife. According to BirdWatching Magazine, “She is the rare humorist who understands nature and biology well enough to make even the most cranky birder crack a smile.” She co-authored the New York Times bestseller The Atlas Obscura Explorer’s Guide for the World’s Most Adventurous Kid. Her Bird and Moon comics are collected in the book Birding Is My Favorite Video Game, a 2019 ALA Great Graphic Novel for Teens, and have appeared in publications ranging from the scientific journal Nature Ecology & Evolution to the children’s magazine Ranger Rick. A wildlife expert with an MS from UVM’s Field Naturalist Program, she also writes for the National Audubon Society and gives keynotes at birding festivals across the country.
